Zelenskyy warns of “difficult period” for Ukraine through summer
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that the coming months would be challenging for the country both on the battlefield and in the diplomatic arena.
He noted that, especially until September, the country would go through a difficult period, Caliber.Az reports, citing the UNIAN’s telegram post.
“This spring–summer period will be difficult, both politically and diplomatically. There may be pressure on Ukraine. There will also be pressure on the battlefield,” the president said.
Zelenskyy noted that the United States has an internal deadline linked to elections.
“Americans, with the beginning of summer, will shift further into domestic processes — into elections. They have their own internal deadline — approximately August,” he said, adding that Russia could intensify its activity during this period.
Zelenskyy mentioned that Russia intends to create a buffer zone not only along its own border but also along the Belarusian frontier, warning that Ukraine’s Chernihiv and Sumy regions could be at risk.
“That also includes the Chernihiv and Sumy regions. There is nothing new in this,” he added.
Commenting on Transnistria, Zelenskyy stressed that there is currently no threat there.
“Honestly, at present, I do not see a threat in Transnistria. The threat is where there is a buildup of Russian forces,” he said.
