Azerbaijan to set up ASAN service fund under UN

Chairman of the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of Azerbaijan, Ulvi Mehdiyev, who is on a visit to New York, has said that work is underway to establish a fund in the UN to more quickly bring the initiatives of ASAN service to the international community.

“The officials of the world organisation and international experts highly appreciated the activity of ASAN service and Azerbaijan's cooperation with the UN within the 22nd session of the Committee of Experts on Public Administration (CEPA) of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC),” Mehdiyev told the US Bureau of Report.

"It is pleasant that UN officials are already recommending Azerbaijan’s ASAN service model to the countries willing to conduct reforms in rendering public services. The ASAN service model, created 10 years ago at the initiative of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, is unique. A special UN award was presented for this model and the concept twice. This model and the concept are being exported to 17 countries as an intellectual product," he noted.

The chairman of the state agency noted that international experts in their speeches emphasised the human orientation and extreme transparency of the ASAN service system.

"We have taken the next step towards promoting Azerbaijan’s intellectual brand to even more countries through the UN platform," he said.

Mehdiyev added that agreements on several projects initiated by the UN were reached at bilateral meetings with UN representatives and its member states.

"Currently, we are working with 20 countries on the ASAN service model, we already have contracts with 17 of them. We are assisting them to implement the Azerbaijani model, and we will continue this process," he added.
