Georgian PM thanks Azerbaijani president for personal support in enhancing bilateral ties

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has expressed his deep gratitude to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for his personal support and contribution to the strengthening of the partnership between Azerbaijan and Georgia.

"Your Excellency! I convey to you and the friendly people of Azerbaijan my sincere greetings and congratulations on the occasion of the Independence Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan,” Caliber.Az quotes Garibashvili as saying in a congratulatory letter to President Aliyev.

“I would like to take this opportunity to express my deep gratitude to you for your personal support and contribution to the strengthening of the partnership between Azerbaijan and Georgia. This year is of particular importance, as the people of Azerbaijan are celebrating the 100th anniversary of the visionary leader Heydar Aliyev, who made an important contribution to the country's progress and development.

Dear friend, we look forward to our cooperation bringing even greater success to our countries, to our peoples. I wish you a peaceful future, progress and success. May Azerbaijan continue to prosper and develop!" the letter adds.

Georgia recognized the independence of Azerbaijan in 1991. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on November 18, 1992. The Azerbaijani Embassy in Georgia has been operating since March 1996. The Georgian Embassy in Azerbaijan has been operating since February 1995.

Friendly and neighbourly relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia have historical roots; they have always been at a high level. “Agreement on strengthening friendship, cooperation and mutual security between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Georgia”, dated March 8, 1996, which laid the foundation for a strategic partnership between the two countries, and “Joint Declaration between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Georgia”, which was signed on the 4th of March 2004, are both important for the future development of constructive relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia.
