Azerbaijan, Pakistan explore new avenues for economic, parliamentary cooperation PHOTO
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, welcomed a delegation led by Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan, in a meeting held on July 7.
During the meeting, President Aliyev highlighted the excellent level of political relations between Azerbaijan and Pakistan, emphasising that the bilateral ties are deeply rooted in brotherhood, mutual support, and solidarity. The President recalled Pakistan Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s recent participation in the 17th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) held in Khankendi, as well as his earlier visits to the liberated territories of Azerbaijan, including Lachin, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The Azerbaijani leader underscored the successful cooperation between the two countries in politics, economy, and investment, and pointed out the vital role of inter-parliamentary collaboration in further expanding bilateral relations. He also expressed confidence that the visit of the Pakistani delegation would contribute to strengthening parliamentary ties.
In response, Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq expressed his honour at visiting Azerbaijan and meeting with President Aliyev. He stressed that the delegation comprises members from both ruling and opposition parties, demonstrating Pakistan’s unified and solid stance in support of Azerbaijan.
The Pakistani parliamentary leader congratulated Azerbaijan on the successful organisation of the ECO summit in Khankendi, noting the political significance of holding the event in the region. He also praised the extensive reconstruction and restoration efforts underway in Karabakh and East Zangezur.
The meeting featured discussions on enhancing inter-parliamentary relations and exploring opportunities for cooperation across various sectors including economy, trade, energy, industry, investments, transport, and tourism.
