29 September 2023 17:15

Türkiye is implementing 850 critical projects in the defence industry, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said at the TEKNOFEST aviation, space and technology festival in Izmir.

The head of state noted that the country's exports are also growing in parallel with successful steps in the defence industry, TRT Haber reports.

"Our goal is to bring the defence industry's exports to $6 billion this year," he said.

The president said that Türkiye will soon complete the testing of the Kizilelma drone. He expressed confidence that with its entry into service of the Turkish Armed Forces, new horizons in this field will open up.

"We have unveiled our fifth-generation national combat aircraft, which we have named Kaan. We are carrying out the production process in stages. We have strengthened our dominance in the field of armed drones with the Akıncı and Aksungur UAVs," Erdogan noted.

The Turkish leader addressed the youth in his speech saying:

"Although some people within us cannot hear the footsteps of TEKNOFEST youth coming from the breach we have opened, the whole world hears and knows. Your successes inspire courage not only in our nation but also in our brothers from Asia to Africa, from the Balkans to Turkestan.

The refugees who have returned to their liberated homes in Garabagh after nearly 30 years of occupation are praying for you.

Your achievements inspire courage in the hearts of our brothers and sisters," the president noted.
