Armenian economy minister to make first post-election visit to Russia

Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan is set to make his first working visit abroad since the country's parliamentary elections, traveling to Russia at the invitation of the Russian side, ministry spokesperson Lilit Shaboyan has said.

The visit is scheduled to take place from July 6 to 9 in Yekaterinburg, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.

The announcement comes amid media reports claiming that Papoyan had sent a letter to Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov seeking permission to participate in a forum in Yekaterinburg. According to those reports, the Armenian minister planned to discuss challenges facing exports of Armenian products to the Russian market with his Russian counterparts.

However, Shaboyan dismissed the reports as inaccurate.

"The visit to Yekaterinburg will take place on July 6–9 at the invitation of the Russian side. This is the only fact, and the information circulated in the media is inaccurate," Armenian media quoted Shaboyan as saying in a post on social media.
