Israeli airline EL AL suspends Tel Aviv–Moscow flights as airspace risks mount
Israeli airline EL AL has temporarily suspended flights between Tel Aviv and Moscow for the coming days, a company representative said on June 25, according to Reuters.
The decision was made amid heightened tensions related to the Russia–Ukraine conflict and recent incidents in the region’s airspace.
EL AL said it would reassess the situation next week before deciding whether to resume operations on the route. The airline added that affected passengers would be informed in a timely manner and offered alternative travel arrangements in accordance with applicable regulations.
Earlier on June 25, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukrainian forces had struck an oil depot in Russia’s Krasnodar region, as well as two oil refineries near Ufa. Against this backdrop, a number of airlines continue to closely monitor security risks in the region.
