Zelenskyy confirms long-range strikes on refineries in Russia's Ufa
On June 25, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed strikes on oil facilities in the Russian city of Ufa, saying the attacks were part of Kyiv's long-range campaign against targets supporting Russia's war effort.
In a statement, Zelenskyy said Ukrainian forces struck the Poltavskaya oil depot in Russia's Krasnodar region overnight and later targeted two oil refineries in Ufa.
"Last night, units of the Defence Forces struck the Poltavskaya oil depot in Russia's Krasnodar region. The target was located around 300 kilometres from the front line. This morning, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) hit two oil refineries in Ufa – Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim and Bashneft-Novoil. They are 1,500 kilometres from the front line," Zelenskyy said.
He described the operations as "consistent and precise responses" to what he called Russia's prolongation of the war and its attacks on Ukrainian cities and communities.
"We are carrying out our plan of long-range sanctions," Zelenskyy said, thanking Ukrainian servicemen involved in the operations.
He also called on Russia to pursue diplomacy to end the war.
"Russians should think about genuine diplomacy rather than trying once again to deceive someone or buy time. The war must be brought to an end," he said.
