Armenian PM sees no risks in internet transit via Azerbaijan
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has stated that his country sees no threat to personal data or security from internet traffic being routed through Azerbaijan.
His comments came after AzerTelecom and Telecom Armenia had signed an agreement under which internet traffic to Armenia will transit through Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
“We constantly say that Armenia should become a transit hub. The more flows pass through Armenia, the greater our economic and political weight and the higher our level of security,” Pashinyan said.
According to the prime minister, Armenia's “Crossroads of Peace” initiative envisions the country serving as a corridor for cables, pipelines, roads, transport routes and air links running north-south and east-west.
“That is the guarantee of peace and security,” he added.
