British FM: London resolute in its support for Kyiv

British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly has said that providing military and economic assistance to Ukraine turned out to be a "difficult and painful decision" for London. At the same time, he promised that support for Kyiv would continue until the military operations on Ukrainian territory were fully completed.

In an interview with The House, the senior diplomat warned of a deterioration of the situation in the world if allies do not continue to support Kyiv.

“If we don’t stick with our support to Ukraine if we send the signal that aggressors can prosper, then all the problems that we are currently facing: those inflationary pressures on food and on fuel, the political pressure that comes from having a conflict like this, they will just get worse,” he said.  

“Which is why the UK’s government position is resolute. We make that point to all our international partners. This is tough and this is painful. But it will only be more tough and more painful if we falter.”

Fatigue, he added, “is something we have got to deal with,” and admits it is a “big thing”.
