Pundit: Armenia to face same fate as Ukraine, Georgia

Russian political scientist Andrei Nikulin has said that Armenia will face the same fate as Ukraine and Georgia.

He made the remarks during his interview with Armenian media, Caliber.Az reports.

“The simultaneous visit of the CSTO Secretary, as well as the delegation of the EU External Relations Service and representatives of the European Commission, is routine diplomatic relations. This is a multi-directional dialogue that Armenia has historically talked about, but still reduced most of it to Russia, and towards Russia,” Nikulin said.

“However, this movement, trend continues to strengthen, and the more we talk to our European colleagues and to our colleagues in other countries, say India and Arabia, the less Russia has to do. Russia understands it very well. Armenia understands it very well. Theoretically, under normal circumstances, this is a natural process, and the right of every sovereign state, which Moscow regularly recalls, to pursue its multi-vector policy.

But from Moscow's viewpoint, which Armenia has repeatedly faced, as well as other states that Russia considers its satellites, they do not have the right to such a policy and should at least partially coordinate their foreign policy or defence activities with Moscow.

So here we see a divergence in Moscow's position and an inevitable trend, a dynamic that will most likely end, unfortunately, in the end with a serious break between Armenia and Moscow. And not because of the actions of Armenia or Pashinyan, who is trying to escape from the complexity, at least from economic pressure, but it is simply a practice that has been implemented for decades, which has already been seen by Moldovans, Georgians, residents of the Baltic States, Ukraine and many other regions. And, unfortunately, Armenia will have to experience it too," the political scientist added.
