Turkic world's future depends on science and technology, says MHP leader

02 August 2026 15:28

The future development of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) depends on prioritizing science and technology, Devlet Bahçeli, leader of Türkiye's Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), stated.

Bahçeli argued that the prosperity of the Turkic world in the 21st century and raising living standards to those of developed countries will depend on designing and implementing an effective research and development (R&D) strategy, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

In an interview with the MHP-affiliated newspaper TürkGün, he said that despite recent progress in science and technology in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Türkiye, the research infrastructure of the Turkic states still lags significantly behind that of developed countries.

According to Bahçeli, the Action Plan aimed at rapidly strengthening R&D centers across the Turkic world should be actively supported.

“We should study the research infrastructure of developed countries, formulate concrete proposals, identify new models for the operation of R&D centers, or improve existing ones. This will accelerate the development of modern science and advanced technologies in OTS member states and across the Turkic world as a whole. The long-term development of OTS countries is possible only through such steps,” the MHP leader said.
