Poland warns NATO has three years to prepare for attack by Russia

The German Council on Foreign Relations has expressed concerns about Russia's "imperial ambitions" and highlighted the need for Western countries to prepare for a direct attack from Russia.

The statement suggests that Russia, with its "imperial ambitions," poses the most significant and urgent threat to NATO countries. German think-tank warned that once intense fighting in Ukraine ends, Moscow could take as little as six to ten years to reconstitute its armed forces.

Nevertheless, the head of Poland’s national security agency evaluated this prediction as being too optimistic and suggested a shorter, three-year time horizon for NATO countries on the eastern flank to prepare for a potential confrontation, as reported by The Independent.

“This is the time when a potential must be created on the eastern flank that would be a clear signal deterring aggression. Therefore, it is necessary to further increase the number of Polish troops.”
