The volume of cargo traffic through the Astara terminal in 2023 was about 700,000 tonnes of various cargoes.

This is three times more than in 2018 when the terminal started operations, the press service of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC told Caliber.Az.

"Currently, the construction of a single-span road bridge, a three-span Kemerband bridge, four single-span railway bridges, 10 service buildings and two platforms is underway at the terminal.

When these works are completed in 2024, the cargo handling capacity will increase to 3.5-4 million tonnes per year.

Cargoes such as wood and wood products, construction materials, chemical products, grain, fruit and vegetables, canned food, food and soft drinks will be transported through the terminal," the press service said.
