Assets of Russian holdings worth $154 million seized in Ukraine

    WORLD - 01 July 2022 - 20:24

The assets of Russian holdings worth more than 4.5 billion hryvnias ($154 million at current exchange rates) have been arrested in Ukraine.

In particular, the corporate rights of nine Ukrainian companies, as well as 70 pieces of real estate, including land plots, were arrested, Interfax reports citing the Ukrainian Interior Ministry.

"The firms are owned by Russian holding companies Rostec, Tatneft, Rusal, and GMS Group," the report specifies. The Interior Ministry believes that the seized assets could have been used in subversive activities against Ukraine.

Earlier, it was reported that a number of assets of "Tatneft" have been arrested and transferred to the management of Ukraine: 115 items of immovable property (oil depots, filling stations, non-residential buildings, land plots) and 118 gasoline tankers and vehicles. The value of the seized property and corporate rights was estimated at more than $82 million.

In addition, on July 1, Ligabusinessinform reported that courts in the Transcarpathian region arrested the corporate rights of "Guardon Ukraine" LLC and "Aluminum of Ukraine Company" LLC in Mykolaiv Alumina Plant LLC. The ultimate beneficiary of the plant is businessman Oleg Deripaska, according to the Unified State Register of Legal Entities and Individual Entrepreneurs of Ukraine. According to the state register, he is the beneficiary of two co-owners of the plant - "Aluminum of Ukraine Company" LLC and "Guardon Ukraine" LLC.

The official exchange rate as of July 1 is 29.25 hryvnyas/$1.
