Ammunition warehouse fire causes explosions in eastern Thailand photo
A fire broke out at an ammunition storage warehouse used by border police in Surin Province in Thailand, triggering a series of explosions and prompting emergency measures in the surrounding area.
According to local newspaper Thairath, citing a statement from the Royal Thai Army, a military task force equipped with firefighting equipment was immediately dispatched to the scene to contain the blaze.
Authorities warned nearby residents to stay away from the affected zone as the fire spread through the warehouse. Explosions were repeatedly heard as stored ammunition and shells detonated inside the facility. One person was reported injured in the incident.
Officials have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
Surin Province, located in eastern Thailand along the border with Cambodia, has long been considered a sensitive area due to historical tensions between the two countries. The land border remains closed, contributing to the region’s limited tourism activity.
