A landmark panel discussion featuring the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia took place in Antalya on the sidelines of the 4th Antalya Diplomacy Forum, drawing attention to the shifting geopolitical landscape in the South Caucasus and the region’s potential for deeper cooperation.
The session, titled “Challenges and Opportunities for Regional Cooperation in the South Caucasus,” brought together Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, and Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Moderated by Nigar Göksel, Türkiye/Cyprus Director of the International Crisis Group, and TRT World journalist Auskar Surbakti, the panel explored pressing regional dynamics and the shared aspirations for a stable and prosperous South Caucasus.
Key topics included the ongoing peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, which remains a pivotal factor for long-term regional stability. Panelists also addressed the normalization efforts between Türkiye and Armenia—an initiative viewed as essential for broader reconciliation and economic integration.
Georgia's growing role as a diplomatic and logistical bridge in the region was also acknowledged, with Botchorishvili emphasizing Tbilisi’s commitment to inclusive development and cross-border collaboration. The forum provided a rare platform for open dialogue among the three South Caucasus nations—an important step amid a historically complex and, at times, adversarial regional context.
Participants further examined the need for sustainable development, inclusive growth, and regional resilience in the face of global fragmentation. Emphasis was placed on pragmatic cooperation over divisive politics, with the shared understanding that regional integration is key to unlocking the South Caucasus’ full potential.
The Antalya Diplomacy Forum continues to serve as a critical venue for fostering dialogue on peacebuilding, regional connectivity, and multilateral diplomacy, offering a forward-looking vision for the South Caucasus amid evolving global challenges.
