Armenia considers payouts for citizens returning amid Middle East escalation
Citizens of Armenia who returned home following the recent escalation of the conflict in the Middle East have submitted around 500 applications to the Foreign Ministry seeking compensation for their return flight expenses.
According to Caliber.Az, citing Armenian media, preliminary estimates suggest that reimbursement for tickets purchased at inflated prices—ranging from $1,300 to $2,500—could amount to approximately 450 million drams (about $1.2 million).
Some of the applications have already been approved, with payments expected to follow, while the rest are still under review.
The maximum compensation is reported to be up to 250,000 drams (around $660) per person. Reimbursements are provided only in cases where passengers have not received refunds from airlines.
