Armenia emphasises long-term EU partnership on resilience

16 December 2025 00:03

Armenia’s collaboration with the European Union on strengthening the country’s resilience, including countering hybrid threats, is long-term and not a new development, Armenian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ani Badalyan said.

She noted that alongside partnership development, initiatives are being designed and implemented to enhance democratic and economic resilience, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.

These include the “Resilience and Growth” program, currently in active implementation, and the decision to establish an EU mission in Armenia.

“Cooperation in countering potential hybrid threats on the path to ensuring that electoral processes meet democratic standards is no exception, as is EU support drawing on the experience and tools of the EU and its member states in this area,” Badalyan said.

She emphasized that all initiatives are shaped through joint discussions, and the public will be informed promptly once decisions are made.

Earlier, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas stated that Armenia had turned to the EU for support in addressing hybrid threats ahead of the parliamentary elections scheduled for 2026.

She noted that the EU could offer support using mechanisms similar to those employed in Moldova's case.

On December 2, Kaja Kallas also announced that the European Union would allocate €15 million to Armenia to strengthen peace and enhance resilience, emphasizing that the support also extends to challenges in the information sphere.
