Armenia in talks with US on Trump Route project, PM Pashinyan says
Armenia is conducting intensive discussions with the United States over the implementation of the so-called Trump Route project, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has said.
Speaking during a debate on the country’s 2026 state budget in the National Assembly on October 27, Pashinyan described the initiative as new for both Armenia and the region, Caliber.Az reports.
He noted that the project contains many complexities but expressed confidence that solutions would be found and the programme successfully implemented.
“Of course, the project is new for us and the region, there are many nuances, and I am confident that we will discuss these issues as soon as possible, find solutions and carry out this programme,” Pashinyan said.
On October 21, 2025, President Ilham Aliyev announced that Azerbaijan had lifted all restrictions on cargo transit to Armenia that had existed since the time of occupation.
The initial shipment under this new arrangement was a consignment of Kazakh grain bound for Armenia. Aliyev announced during a joint press conference with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, held during his state visit to Kazakhstan.
