Georgian PM: EU uses visa-free cancellation as last tool of pressure
The cancellation of visa-free travel is the only remaining instrument the European Union can use to pressure the Georgian population, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said.
He made the remarks during a broadcast of the Imedi Live programme on Imedi TV, noting that the EU has already exhausted every instrument of pressure, leaving only this one on the table, Caliber.Az reports.
PM said that all of this is being done to return the National Movement to power.
Kobakhidze expressed hope that the relevant actors would remain pragmatic and refrain from taking such a decision, noting that Georgia has calm years ahead, with no elections scheduled until 2028.
According to him, the European bureaucracy will not be granted the return of the “collective National Movement” to power.
The fate of Georgia’s visa-free regime with the EU will be decided at the end of December.
