Türkiye detains 1,780 suspects in nationwide anti-drug operation
Türkiye’s police have detained 1,780 people in a large-scale operation targeting drug trafficking networks across 73 provinces, with 935 suspects later arrested, the Interior Ministry said.
The two-week nationwide crackdown led to the seizure of 985 kilograms of narcotics and more than 1.6 million pills containing banned substances, Caliber.Az reports per Turkish media.
A further 224 suspects were placed under judicial supervision, while investigations into the remaining detainees are continuing.
The operation involved 2,670 police units and 6,675 officers, supported by 17 aircraft and 34 specially trained detection dogs.
The Interior Ministry said security forces would continue their fight against drug trafficking organisations across Türkiye, stressing that authorities were determined to prevent criminal groups from operating.
