Explosions rock southern Iranian cities as air defences activated

Powerful explosions were reported in several Iranian cities along the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman on July 14, according to Iran's Tasnim news agency.

Tasnim said explosions were heard in the port city of Bandar Abbas in Hormozgan Province, where air defence systems were activated.

The agency also reported at least six explosions in the area around the coastal towns of Chabahar and Konarak in Sistan and Baluchistan Province on the Gulf of Oman. No immediate information was available on casualties or the cause of the blasts.

The reports came as US President Donald Trump claimed that the United States had destroyed 84% of Iran's weapons production capacity.
