Jackie Chan arrives in Kazakhstan for filming of “Armour of God 4: Ultimatum”

Legendary actor, director, and producer Jackie Chan has arrived in Kazakhstan’s Mangystau Region, where filming is set to begin for “Armour of God 4: Ultimatum.”

He was welcomed at the airport by Mangystau Region Governor Nurdaulet Kilybay, Caliber.Az reports via Kazakh media.

One of the film’s main shooting locations will be the renowned Bozzhyra tract, known for its dramatic natural landscapes.

Regional authorities said the selection of Mangystau for the large-scale film project reflects the growing interest of the global film industry in Kazakhstan’s unique natural scenery.

During a meeting with Jackie Chan, Nurdaulet Kilybay highlighted that involvement in a major international film project would create new opportunities for tourism growth, attract investment, and raise the region’s global profile.

Jackie Chan, in turn, thanked the authorities for the warm reception and said Mangistau’s distinctive landscapes offer exceptional cinematic potential, adding that they are set to become a striking feature of the upcoming film.

“Armour of God 4: Ultimatum” is the latest instalment in Jackie Chan's long-running action-adventure franchise, which began with the 1986 original film where he starred as the treasure-hunting adventurer Asian Hawk.

It is directed by Kazakh filmmaker and stunt coordinator Robert Kun, marking a significant shift as the first entry primarily backed outside the traditional Hong Kong/Chinese studio system and filmed in Central Asia (Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan).

The story follows Asian Hawk being drawn back into action amid a global hunt for an ancient artefact called the Tumar, which carries a substantial bounty.

Principal photography began in July 2026, with a worldwide theatrical release planned for Q2 2027.
