Armenian government sets dates for military conscription in 2026
The Armenian government has approved the schedule for compulsory military service in 2026.
Conscription will take place from January 7 to 31, while demobilisation is set for January 8 to 31, according to Caliber.Az, citing Armenian media reports.
The government’s decision outlines the organisation and execution of conscription, the structures established to manage the process, and the responsibilities of the involved institutions. It also specifies that conscription for alternative military service and discharge into the reserve will run concurrently with fixed-term military service.
In addition, the approved framework covers the enlistment of young men and women who have opted to serve voluntarily.
Earlier, on October 21, Armenian media reported that the country will reduce the duration of compulsory military service.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that the service period will be shortened from two years to one and a half years, effective January 1, 2026, moving up from the initially planned start date of June 1.
