Russia partially lifts restrictions on US hatching egg imports

Russia has partially lifted temporary restrictions on imports of hatching eggs from the United States following an improvement in the epidemiological situation surrounding highly pathogenic avian influenza, Russia’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision (Rosselkhoznadzor) said.

The decision took effect on July 24 and applies to 10 establishments in West Virginia, Caliber.Az reports.

The establishments’ status in the Register of Third Countries has been changed to “special requirements.” Each shipment will be subject to laboratory testing for avian influenza, with the costs covered by the importer.

Enhanced controls will remain in place until inspections of the establishments have been completed, the agency said.
