Russia, China discuss US relations, Ukraine war on SCO meeting sidelines
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi discussed relations with Washington and the conflict in Ukraine during talks on the sidelines of a Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) meeting, Russia’s Foreign Ministry said.
“The topic of relations with the US and the situation surrounding the Ukrainian crisis were discussed,” the ministry said, adding that the two sides found their positions on most of the issues raised to be “either identical or very similar," Caliber.Az reports.
The ministers also expressed satisfaction with the positive development of Russian-Chinese relations and coordinated positions on bilateral political dialogue, practical cooperation and humanitarian ties.
They discussed the implementation of agreements reached during Russian President Vladimir Putin’s official visit to China in May, as well as cooperation within the SCO and preparations for the organisation’s upcoming summit.
The two sides also stressed the importance of strengthening strategic coordination between Moscow and Beijing in international organisations and forums, including the United Nations, BRICS, the G20 and APEC.
