US strike hits IRGC naval headquarters in northern Iran

The United States carried out an overnight strike on July 24 targeting the headquarters of the naval forces of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in the northern province of Gilan, according to local authorities.

“The ‘Hazrat Sayyid al-Shuhada’ headquarters of the naval forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in the city of Zibakenar was attacked by American forces,” the provincial administration said in a statement cited by the Fars news agency.

Preliminary reports indicated there were no casualties resulting from the strike.

The incident comes amid ongoing hostilities involving the United States, Israel and Iran. The conflict began on February 28, followed by a memorandum of understanding signed in June between Washington and Tehran that provided for an immediate cessation of hostilities across all fronts, including Lebanon.

However, large-scale U.S. strikes on Iran resumed on July 8, with Washington accusing Tehran of breaching the terms of the agreement, particularly provisions related to the Strait of Hormuz.
