Deputy FM: Azerbaijan-Armenia peace deal to open opportunities for Georgia
Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan has stated that the agreements reached between Armenia and Azerbaijan in Washington on August 8 will not only lift the blockade between the two countries but also open new opportunities for Georgia.
According to Caliber.Az, referencing Armenian media reports, Kostanyan made these remarks during a visit to Georgia as part of a delegation led by Armenian President Vahan Khachaturyan, summarising the outcomes of meetings held in Tbilisi.
According to the deputy minister, Armenia and Georgia have consistently maintained very open discussions on a wide range of issues.
“Armenia and Georgia have always maintained very open contacts on matters of mutual interest. This naturally includes regional cooperation, because following the establishment of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan in Washington on August 8, the blockade between Armenia and Azerbaijan will essentially be lifted, and new opportunities will open up for friendly Georgia. In this context, the bilateral agenda was quite full, and during the current visit, the President of the Republic of Armenia addressed all these topics in his meetings,” Kostanyan emphasised.
Highlighting cooperation between Armenia and Georgia in multiple areas, Kostanyan noted that the two countries are in constant dialogue and that the frequency of mutual visits remains high.
“In the past 1–2 months, there has already been a visit by the Prime Minister of Armenia. A few days ago, the Armenian Foreign Minister visited Tbilisi on an official visit; the Minister of Justice was also here, and next week the Armenian Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure is expected to visit. In addition, contacts with our Georgian partners continue remotely, which underscores the importance of our relations,” he added.
