Khamenei says region has seen Iran’s strength, vows control over Persian Gulf

Iran’s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, addressed the nation on April 30 on the occasion of Persian Gulf Day, saying regional nations have witnessed Iran’s strength and the importance of control over the strategic waterway.

In a statement on his official Telegram channel, he said one of the invaluable gifts of God to the Muslim nations of the region, especially to the noble people of Islamic Iran, is the Persian Gulf, Caliber. Az reports.

Khamenei made it clear that the Persian Gulf is not merely a body of water, but part of their identity and civilisation, connecting nations and providing a vital route for the global economy through the Strait of Hormuz and onward to the Sea of Oman.

“This strategic resource has for centuries aroused the greed of many enemies, and numerous European and American invasions, threats, and damage inflicted on the region are only part of the malicious plans of global exploiters against the people of the Persian Gulf, the latest example being recent aggressive actions by the United States,” he stressed.

According to him, the people of Iran, possessing the longest coastline along the Persian Gulf, have made the greatest sacrifices for the Gulf’s independence and in resisting foreign powers (...).

“The Islamic Revolution marked a turning point in this struggle. Today, two months after what he described as the largest aggression by global hegemons and the humiliating defeat of the United States, a new era is taking shape in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz,” he noted.

The Islamic leader emphasised that the nations of the Persian Gulf region, accustomed to the silence and submission of rulers to aggressors, have in the past sixty days witnessed displays of strength, vigilance, and courage by the naval forces of the army and the IRGC, along with the dedication and heroism of the people and youth of southern Iran, rejecting foreign domination. “It has become clear not only to global public opinion and the peoples of the region, but also to rulers, that the presence of Americans in the Persian Gulf is the main source of instability, and that their bases are incapable of ensuring even their own security,” he warned, noting that “With God’s help, the future of the Persian Gulf region will be bright, without the presence of the United States, for the sake of progress, stability, and the well-being of its peoples.

“We share a common destiny with our neighbours in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, and outsiders from thousands of kilometres away have no place there except at the bottom of the sea. This victorious chain of events, achieved through God and the strategy of a strong Iran, will usher in a new era of order in the region and the world,” he added.

According to Khamenei, today, the awakening of the Iranian people is reflected in 90 million citizens ready to defend national resources.

“Islamic Iran, through its management of the Strait of Hormuz, will ensure the security of the Persian Gulf and eliminate abuses by enemies. New rules for managing the strait will bring stability and progress to all nations of the region, and economic benefits will please the people, with God’s help, even if disbelievers oppose it,” the statement said.
