Consumer prices in Iran jump 73.5% year-on-year

Annual inflation in Iran has exceeded 70 per cent, with consumer prices rising sharply over the latest reporting period, according to official data.
Citing figures released by the Statistical Centre of Iran, media outlet Iran International reported that consumer prices increased by 73.5% between March 21 and April 20 compared to the same period a year earlier.
On a monthly basis, the consumer price index rose by 5% compared with the previous month, reflecting continued price pressures across the economy.
The data also showed that the average inflation rate for the 12 months ending in April climbed by 53.7% compared to the corresponding period last year.
