Pashinyan hails Azerbaijani deputy PM visit as “milestone” in peace process
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has described the visit of Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafaev to Armenia as an “important event”, calling it a significant step in the normalisation of relations between the two countries.
Speaking at a cabinet meeting in Yerevan, Pashinyan said he viewed the reciprocal visits by deputy prime ministers as part of what he called a historic process aimed at institutionalising peace, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
“I consider this an important development. I see the visits of deputy prime ministers of the two countries as historic within the logic of the peace process and its institutionalisation. I am pleased that we have reached this milestone,” he said.
On April 29, Azerbaijan and Armenia convened the 13th meeting of their state border delimitation commissions in Aghveran, Armenia, where both sides exchanged draft guidelines outlining technical procedures for the ongoing delimitation process.
The session was co-chaired by Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev and Armenia’s Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, and took place on the territory of one of the two countries, in line with their established practice.
During the talks, the sides agreed on and exchanged draft instructions setting out the procedures for conducting delimitation work, including the relevant technical framework.
