Official: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia can strengthen one another

20 November 2025 17:45

Armenia’s delegation member Maria Karapetyan emphasised the growing prospects for regional cooperation in the South Caucasus, stating that Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia have the potential to strenghten one another at the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (PA).

The delegation, led by Sargis Khandanyan, Chair of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the National Assembly, is participating in the Assembly’s autumn session in Istanbul, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.

She noted that this cooperation could enhance the region’s role as a key transit corridor linking Europe, the Black Sea, Türkiye, the Caspian Sea and Central Asia.

Karapetyan recalled that Armenia and Azerbaijan had initialed a peace agreement in Washington on 8 August—an action she described as a historic development. She noted that Armenia and the United States had also agreed to cooperate under the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity initiative.

She further pointed to Azerbaijan’s October announcement lifting all restrictions on the transit of goods through its territory to Armenia.

She added that President Ilham Aliyev viewed the move as evidence that peace between the two countries was becoming tangible in practice, not merely on paper. Armenia, she said, had expressed appreciation for the decision and signaled its readiness to ensure transit between Türkiye and Azerbaijan, including between the two parts of Azerbaijan, using the existing road network on Armenian territory.
