Armenia joins Board of Peace without financial contributions? Foreign Ministry responds
Armenia has joined the Board of Peace without being required to make compulsory financial payments for its membership, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ani Badalyan said.
Responding to an inquiry, Badalyan emphasised that the board’s charter provides for voluntary participation in financial contributions, Caliber.Az reports per Armenian media.
According to her, a state invited by US President Donald Trump may join the council without a fixed membership fee for up to three years, after which the terms are subject to review under the established procedure.
“The Government of Armenia approved membership in the Peace Council on these grounds,” she added.
The Board of Peace is a US-led international initiative launched at the 2026 World Economic Forum in Davos, initially aimed at supporting ceasefire efforts, reconstruction, governance and stabilisation in the Gaza Strip as part of President Donald Trump’s peace plan. It has since been portrayed as a broader platform intended to address global conflict issues beyond Gaza.
Under the draft charter, countries are invited by the US president to join and serve on the board. Membership is generally set for three-year terms, while a permanent seat is granted to states that contribute at least $1 billion in cash within the first year.
