Armenia & Macron responsible for South Caucasus tensions Azerbaijani Defense Ministry states
Responsibility for the aggravation of the situation in the South Caucasus region and the creation of a new hotbed of war will fully fall on the leadership of Armenia, which pursues a revanchist policy, and Macron's dictatorship.
Caliber.Az reports that this is stated in a statement of the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry.
The ministry noted that the media reported about the signing of a contract between France and Armenia on the purchase of Caesar SAU.
"The fact that France supplies lethal and offensive artillery and other weapons to Armenia despite warnings from Azerbaijan is another proof of France's provocative activities in the South Caucasus region.
“Although the French Ministry of Defence in its statement last October said that the military equipment supplied to Armenia was defensive in nature, the supply of lethal weapons to Armenia under the current military deal is yet another manifestation of the French leadership's hypocrisy.
“The Macron regime, pursuing a policy of militarization and geopolitical intrigue in the South Caucasus region, is an obstacle to normalizing relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan and ensuring sustainable peace in the region. The current leadership of France left out of normalization and regional processes due to its destructive and biased policy, cannot forgive Azerbaijan for this and therefore continues its subversive policy," the Defence Ministry said.
It recalled that Armenia is a state that committed military aggression and occupation against Azerbaijan.
"The rearmament of Armenia, which has experience of committing bloody military aggression, by France, which is a permanent member of the UN Security Council, and support for the policy of revanchism of the Armenian leadership, in addition to political irresponsibility, also leads to a new war.
“As a colonial empire, France has historically had a vile experience of creating hotbeds of war and conflicts in various parts of the world. The processes in New Caledonia and other overseas colonial territories, the exploitation of indigenous peoples, the plundering of their natural resources, the changing demographic composition of those territories as a result of racist policies, and the suppression of protests by bloodshed and force of arms is an indication of the true nature of the Macron regime. Instead of addressing such deep-rooted problems, which are the remnants of a shameful colonial legacy, and putting an end to neo-colonialism, France is waging a dirty propaganda and disinformation campaign against Azerbaijan.
“We declare that the responsibility for the aggravation of the situation in the South Caucasus region and the creation of a new hotbed of war will fully fall on the leadership of Armenia, which pursues a revanchist policy, and Macron's dictatorship," the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry stressed.
