Armenia to use army uniforms upon NATO standards
The Armenian Defence Ministry has announced that the army uniforms will be created according to NATO standards.
Defence Minister Suren Papikyan stated in the parliament in November 2023 that the process of changing military uniforms was initiated in the army, and the work was underway with international partners, Caliber.Az reports citing the Armenian media.
“When choosing a new uniform, the Defence Ministry acts in line with NATO criteria, as well as the results of studying international experience. The military uniforms of the armies of the US, France, Greece, and the Czech Republic were viewed,” the statement said.
After the new uniforms are obtained, the Defence Ministry will come up with a legislative initiative that will prohibit the free sale of the current army uniforms.
The Armenian government announced a tender last year to attract all specialists who could present their ideas on the design and quality of clothing. Several Armenian companies took part in it. They passed the first stage of qualification. The applications were submitted to create clothing only for military personnel of one type of troops to participate in the second stage.
