Russia's Medvedev mocks Trump’s 50-day ultimatum “Russia Didn’t Care”
Deputy Head of Russia’s Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, has called the July 14 statements made by US President Donald Trump a “theatrical ultimatum” addressed to Moscow.
“Trump issued a theatrical ultimatum to the Kremlin. The world shuddered, expecting the consequences. Belligerent Europe was disappointed. Russia didn’t care,” Medvedev said in a post on X, Caliber.Az reports.
Medvedev’s remarks respond to Trump’s warning that Russia must agree to a Ukraine ceasefire within 50 days or face “very tough” secondary tariffs, potentially up to 100%, alongside increased U.S. weapons support for Ukraine, including Patriot missiles from Germany.
On July 14, Trump issued a public warning to Russia, demanding a ceasefire in Ukraine within 50 days or face severe economic measures, including secondary tariffs that could cripple Russia’s economy, already strained by existing sanctions. He also announced plans to send U.S.-made weapons, including Patriot missiles, to Ukraine.
