Iran claims it could destroy US Navy ships in Persian Gulf if necessary
An Iranian official has said the country’s armed forces are capable of destroying all US Navy vessels in the Persian Gulf within range of its missiles if required.
Mohsen Rezaei, a member of Iran’s Expediency Discernment Council, made the remarks in comments carried by the Iranian news agency.
He said Iranian launch systems were currently “targeting ships” and warned that Tehran would act decisively if confronted, adding that “no one can escape” Iranian firepower.
Rezaei also argued that extending a ceasefire would not serve Iran’s interests and said pressure on Iran should be increased.
At the same time, he noted that there is still scope to pursue negotiations while maintaining a ceasefire, suggesting a dual-track approach of dialogue and continued deterrence.
