Türkiye reaffirms support for US–Iran peace talks
Türkiye has said it will continue supporting peace efforts between the United States and Iran, urging both sides to engage in constructive dialogue aimed at ending hostilities and achieving a lasting settlement.
As a NATO member bordering Iran, Türkiye has maintained diplomatic ties with both countries, as well as with regional mediator Pakistan, and has repeatedly called for de-escalation of tensions, Caliber.Az reports per the Turkish ministry.
According to a weekly briefing from Turkish Defence Ministry spokesperson Zeki Aktürk, Türkiye will continue to provide support so that any existing ceasefire can evolve into a permanent peace agreement. He added that all parties should work constructively within the ongoing negotiation process without obstructing efforts toward a settlement.
Separately, a Turkish diplomatic source said that foreign ministers from Türkiye, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt are expected to meet on the sidelines of a diplomatic forum in Antalya this weekend.
The source also said that Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to visit Türkiye following a trip to Qatar.
