Iran claims mass registration in national defence initiative
More than 26 million Iranians have taken part in a nationwide campaign called Janfada (“Self-Sacrifice”), which began in early April with the aim of defending the country against the United States and Israel, said Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejei, head of Iran's judiciary.
“These people have proven that they are ready to sacrifice their precious lives for the defence and protection of the Islamic Republic of Iran. More than 26 million people have registered in the ‘Self-Sacrifice for Iran’ campaign; this demonstrates the determination and enthusiasm of the entire Iranian nation to sacrifice for their homeland,” the statement said, Fars reports.
He also stressed the need for strict measures against those who “cooperated with the enemy” during the war.
“Individuals who passed information to the enemy must under no circumstances be shown leniency or tolerance,” Ejei stated.
