Türkiye to present two more UAVs: TOYDU and KARAGUN PHOTO/VIDEO

16 July 2025 17:46

Türkiye is preparing to unveil the new products of its defense industry at the 17th International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF 2025) to be held in Istanbul.

Some of them are new unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) developed by the domestic defence industry: the TOYDU maritime tactical mini-UAV and the KARAGUN hand-launched strike UAV, Caliber.Az reports per the Anadolu article.

Solid Aero, a company working on the development of UAVs for various needs, will announce two new projects at the exhibition.

The “KARAGUN” is a ready-for-production, hand-launched strike drone designed for modern tactical missions. Its modular design and innovative wing-fuselage structure allow a single operator to quickly disassemble, pack, and transport the system in just minutes, making it highly practical for field use. Because it can be launched by hand from any open area without extra launch equipment, the KARAGUN offers great operational flexibility and rapid deployment.

The KARAGUN was specifically designed to meet the needs of fast-moving units, providing a quick and easy-to-deploy solution for sudden intervention scenarios.

Equipped with advanced electro-optical and infrared (EO/IR) sensors and built-in artificial intelligence (AI), the KARAGUN delivers exceptional target detection and precision reconnaissance and strike capabilities at ranges up to 1.5 km.

Its integrated image processing system can identify targets in real time and plan adaptive attacks, allowing for both operator-controlled and fully autonomous missions.

With a wingspan of 2 meters and a length of 1.3 meters, the KARAGUN can operate fully or semi-autonomously and strike targets it has been pre-programmed to engage.

Weighing 10 kilograms at takeoff and capable of carrying a 2-kilogram payload, the KARAGUN is designed to perform reliably across a wide range of environments—from urban corridors to challenging field conditions—with a range of 60 kilometers and a maximum flight duration of 1 hour.

The KARAGUN UAV aims to be an ideal solution for large-scale production thanks to its lightweight yet durable design and cost-effective manufacturing process.

The TOYDU tactical mini-UAV, currently undergoing testing and designed for maritime deployment, is being developed to provide reliable support for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance in high-risk environments.

Equipped with a foldable wing and tube launch capability, the TOYDU carries a 400-gram payload with a takeoff weight of 2.5 kilograms. It can perform autonomous flights at altitudes between 1,000 and 2,000 meters above sea level, with a mission duration of up to 60 minutes and an operational range of 20 kilometers.

The TOYDU features a real-time encrypted telemetry and control system that boosts operational security, while its reusable design ensures reliable performance across multiple missions.

Designed for launch from both land and sea platforms—such as ships and boats—this maritime-grade UAV can be carried by a single operator and made flight-ready in just 2 minutes.

Thanks to its electric motor, compact size, low noise levels, and reduced radar signature, TOYDU can operate covertly even in high-risk environments.

Built specifically for special forces, TOYDU enables rapid deployment on land or at sea, providing real-time situational awareness and intelligence gathering capabilities.
