Arrests of Armenian generals make headlines in media
The ex-commander of Karabakh separatist forces Jalal Harutyunyan has been summoned for interrogation about 20 times in Armenia.
The report came from the Yerevan-based newspaper Zhoghovurd, according to Caliber.Az.
“Zhoghovurd has revealed that a very scandalous situation has been ongoing in the Department for the Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the Main Investigation Department of the Armenian Investigative Committee. In particular, the preliminary investigation body is actively summoning officials of the Armed Forces for questioning,” Caliber.Az informs.
Caliber.Az learned that the former Chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces Onik Gasparyan and General Jalal Harutyunyan, as well as other former officials of the General Staff, were recently invited for interrogation. Moreover, according to the information that we obtained, the preliminary investigation body, again for the purpose of interrogation, will transfer the former Minister of Defence of Armenia David Tonoyan from the “Yerevan-Kentron” penitentiary to the military investigation directorate. According to the information we received, the preliminary investigation body will interrogate him in the framework of criminal cases initiated as a result of the war with Azerbaijan in 2020.
By the way, according to the exclusive information of the Zhoghovurd newspaper, Jalal Harutyunyan has already been summoned to the preliminary investigation body for interrogation about 20 times, while Onik Gasparyan visited the department 10 times for the same purpose.
