Azerbaijan deals hard blow to local smugglers of Iranian drugs VIDEO
Employees of the Main Anti-Drug Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have been conducting special operations against illegal drug trafficking for the last 20 days.
A total of 38 suspects were detained and 174 kg of narcotic substances were seized from the illegal turnover.
Interior Ministry's press service told Caliber.Az that during the series of operations conducted by police in the capital and regions over the past 20 days against those in Azerbaijan, who under different names are smuggling narcotics from the Islamic Republic of Iran into our country, three organised groups of 38 people were detained.
Some 174 kg of various drugs and psychotropic substances, electronic scales, and 6 thousand ecstasy and methadone tablets were seized from the illegal turnover.
Malik Agayev, Khanan Jafarov, his acquaintance Alyshan Gadirov, Ramil Kerimov, and Samir Makhmudov were identified as the main suppliers of drugs into the country. It has become known that Ramil Kerimov, detained in the Yevlakh district, is one of the main persons who organised the distribution of drugs in the Ganja-Gazakh region. To avoid attracting attention, Ramil Kerimov hid drugs in a cemetery located in the Yevlakh district.
It was found that Malik Agayev, detained in the Astara region with 40 kg of drugs, planned to send a large amount of heroin, methamphetamine, and marijuana to the capital for sale on the orders of a drug dealer living in Iran.
The facts are still under investigation.
