Azerbaijan detains suspected foreign spy PHOTO
Azerbaijan's State Security Agency has detained a foreign citizen on charges of espionage.
During the State Security Service's investigation of the criminal case, serious suspicions of espionage on the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan by a foreign citizen Gaedi Mohammad Najaf, born in 1994, emerged, the State Security Service told Caliber.Az.
Thus, on the basis of the numerous evidence collected, it turned out that Gaedi Mohammad Najaf, on behalf of a foreign intelligence agency, was collecting and transmitting information constituting a state secret to use it to the detriment of the security of the Republic of Azerbaijan, in particular, obtaining personal data about law enforcement officers of Azerbaijan, establishing personal contacts with them and engaging them in cooperation, the statement adds.
Najaf was charged with espionage under Article 276 of the Azerbaijani Criminal Code, and the court chose detention as a preventive measure against him.
The investigation of the criminal case continues.
