Azerbaijan's Customs Agency plans new checkpoints in Karabakh
First Deputy Chairman of the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee, acting Chairman Shahin Baghirov has said that there are projects on the creation of customs posts in new corridors and border checkpoints in the Azerbaijani territories liberated from occupation.
Baghirov made these remarks at a meeting of the Committee for Economic Policy, Industries and Enterprising of the Azerbaijani parliament, Report informs.
The first deputy chairman noted that the work is currently underway on the Aghbend customs checkpoint in the Zangilan district. There are already two customs checkpoints in Karabakh, namely, "Gazanchi" and "Eyvazly".
“At sensitive time points these checkpoints did not work, but later three cars passed through Eyvazly. Moreover, earlier drivers refused to pay customs duty,” Baghirov noted.
The first deputy chairman noted that Iranian drivers mainly tried to evade the road tax.
"They wanted a quota, while we offered to pay customs duty," he disclosed, stressing that the customs committee will operate in the territories liberated from occupation.
