Azerbaijan teams up with ADB to boost non-oil exports, expand global reach
Azerbaijan’s non-oil export growth and the effective use of its export potential were key topics in talks with an Asian Development Bank (ADB) mission, the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO) reported.
During the meeting, both parties explored opportunities for diversifying Azerbaijan’s export portfolio, expanding the geographical reach of exports, as well as strategies and technical support that could be provided by the ADB, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
Tural Hajili, Deputy Executive Director of AZPROMO, presented an overview of the agency’s activities, including the mechanisms in place to stimulate non-oil exports.
He also outlined Azerbaijan’s key non-oil export products, primary export destinations, and the industrial sectors with high export potential.
Kristian Rosbach, Chief Economist at the ADB, noted that this marked the bank’s first mission dedicated to analysing value chains in Azerbaijan. He added that a similar study had previously been conducted in Georgia.
Both sides agreed to prepare joint proposals and share the findings of AZPROMO’s research into the country’s export potential.
