Azerbaijan to pay attention to nuclear safety on margins of COP29 Foreign Minister says at Nuclear Energy Summit

Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov has addressed the Nuclear Energy Summit in Brussels.

“Azerbaijan will pay attention to the issue of nuclear safety on margins of the COP29 chairmanship,” Bayramov said in his speech, Report informs.

According to the minister, the issue of mobilization of resources for the use of nuclear technologies in combating climate change will also be raised.

FM Bayramov highlighted Azerbaijan's experience in the use of nuclear technologies. The minister noted that in cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Azerbaijan is considering the possibility of using nuclear technologies to eliminate the mine threat, which is one of the most crucial tasks for the country.

Security is the priority of Baku when exploring the possibilities of using nuclear energy, the foreign minister added.
