Azerbaijan, Kenya commit to closer parliamentary cooperation, reciprocal visits
As part of his official visit to Kenya, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Amason Kingi, Speaker of the Kenyan Senate, in Nairobi.
During the meeting, Bayramov underlined the significance of enhancing inter-parliamentary cooperation between Azerbaijan and Kenya, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
He highlighted the necessity of establishing direct connections between parliamentary friendship groups and relevant committees, emphasizing that such ties are crucial for fostering trust and deepening mutual understanding.
The sides concurred on the importance of intensifying bilateral dialogue and promoting reciprocal visits to further strengthen the multifaceted relations between their respective legislative bodies.
To recall, Minister Bayramov is currently on an official visit to Nairobi, Kenya, marking a significant step in strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries.
On June 3, Azerbaijan officially opened its embassy in Kenya, with a formal inauguration ceremony attended by Bayramov and Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign Minister, Musalia Mudavadi.
Both officials described the establishment of the diplomatic mission as a key development to enhance interstate relations, facilitate communication, and boost cooperation.
During his visit, Bayramov was received by the country’s President, William Ruto, also held high-level talks with Musalia Mudavadi, discussing a wide range of bilateral and multilateral issues of mutual interest.
FM Bayramov also expressed gratitude to the Kenyan government for providing a favourable environment for the functioning of the Azerbaijani diplomatic mission, underlining the commitment to deepen collaboration between the two nations.
