Azerbaijani army generals’ visit to Türkiye signifies new level of military relations
The visit of six generals of the Azerbaijani army to Ankara and their meeting with Minister of National Defense of Türkiye Yasar Güler is a striking example of the development of military relations between the two fraternal countries.
The former military attaché of the Turkish Embassy in Azerbaijan, Maj-Gen of the reserve Yucel Karauz, told Report.
Karauz noted that Turkish Minister of National Defense Yasar Güler met the generals of the Azerbaijani army at the highest level.
According to him, Turkish-Azerbaijani military relations began to develop at the end of 1991, but after the Second Karabakh War, they strengthened significantly.
Yucel Karauz emphasized that the expression “switch to the Turkish army model” actually means building a modern army. Based on the principles of a common airspace with Türkiye and a unified army model, a number of initiatives have been implemented in Azerbaijan, including the formation of command structures, the creation of a National Defense University, the modernization of the General Staff and other areas.
The delegation included corps commanders of the Azerbaijani army, including Lt-Gen Mais Barxudarov and Maj-Gen Munasib Babayev.
