Iranian president to embark on Karabakh visit for ECO summit
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian will visit Azerbaijan to participate in the upcoming international summit in the Karabakh region.
He is scheduled to participate in the 17th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) member countries, which will be held in Khankendi on July 3-4, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
The Economic Cooperation Organization is a regional intergovernmental group focused on enhancing economic, trade, and cultural collaboration among its member states, which include countries from Central Asia, the Middle East, and South Asia. Azerbaijan and Iran are both founding members of ECO.
The Summit will bring together ECO Heads of State and Government, ministers, observers, special guests from non-ECO countries, and leaders of international organizations, all united in their efforts to foster development and prosperity through fragile economic integration.
Complementing the Summit, a dynamic and inclusive ECO Week will take place from July 1–4, 2025, across multiple cities in Azerbaijan.
ECO Week will include thematic forums promoting youth engagement, gender inclusion, and economic connectivity. On July 1, the ECO Youth Forum will take place in Aghdam, followed by the ECO Women Forum in Lachin on July 2. The same day, the 6th Business Forum will be held in Fuzuli, focusing on investment and trade as drivers of sustainable development in the ECO region.
